Website design and rebuilds

Built so it keeps
moving after launch.

We build corporate and careers websites, and rebuild existing ones. Before design, we settle three things: what the site is for, how the current URLs carry over, and who updates what after launch. Skip those and you get a site that stops being updated the day it goes live. This site is our own work, multilingual version included.

Where our clients usually are when they call

  • The site is dated and it isn't bringing in enquiries
  • Every change goes through an agency, so nothing gets updated
  • We want to rebuild but don't know what happens to our current URLs
  • We want a careers site but haven't decided what goes on it
  • We want other languages but can't judge how far to go

What we do

Corporate websites

Not just company information, but the path through to an enquiry. Built for people arriving from search.

Rebuilding an existing site

How the current URLs carry over is settled first. Redirects included, so traffic from search doesn't fall away after launch.

Careers sites

A page per open role, with job posting structured data, so your roles can appear in Google's job search.

A setup your team can update

News and articles editable in-house. Whether that means a CMS or not is decided with you.

Multiple languages

URL structure per language and hreflang configured properly. Adding translations alone does not make search engines read it correctly.

Measurement after launch

Search Console and analytics set up so you can see where people came from and what they looked at, and change things on evidence.

How it goes

  1. 1

    Free consultation

We ask what the rebuild is for. What you want it to achieve comes before what it should look like.

  2. 2

    Purpose, URLs, ownership

The three to settle before you commission anything. How the current URLs carry over, and who updates what after launch, are fixed here.

  3. 3

    Design and build

Structure first, then build. What copy and photography you supply is made explicit at this point.

  4. 4

    Launch and measurement

Redirects in place at launch. Registered in Search Console and handed over so you can follow traffic from search.

How we choose the technology

What we use depends on how often the site changes and how much you want to edit yourselves after launch. Daily updates or a few times a year, adding a news item or reshaping whole pages, are different problems. We ask first, then choose. If you already run something, we look at whether it can carry forward as it is.

Questions we get

Can we rebuild without changing our URLs?
Yes. Where they do change, we carry them over with permanent redirects. Google states that no PageRank is lost through 301 or other permanent redirects, while also advising against making all the changes at once. We plan the migration accordingly.
What happens with updates after launch?
We ask what you want to update and make that part editable in-house. Adding news or articles can be built so it takes no technical knowledge. We can also handle updates for you.
Do we have to supply copy and photography?
What you supply is agreed at the start. We can also draft the copy with you.
Can you run the site afterwards?
Yes. Updates, new features, and changes based on what the numbers show.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the scale and the scope you hand over, so we don't publish a single figure. We agree the scope at the first consultation and quote from there. You are welcome to get competing quotes.
Where do you work?
We work online with clients across Japan. If you are in or near Tokyo we can come to you. We work in Japanese, English, Korean, and Spanish.

We can start from why you're rebuilding.

The first consultation is free. It's fine if the design isn't decided. We usually reply within 1 to 3 business days.
