Contract development (web and mobile)

From shaping requirements
through to running it.

We take on web applications, mobile apps and internal business systems, and we cover shaping the requirements through design, implementation and operation without splitting the work into handoffs. Most clients come to us before the specification exists, and we work out what to build together with them. Our own team handles the implementation.

Where our clients usually are when they call

  • We know what we want, but we can't turn it into requirements
  • We don't know the going rate or how the process works, so we can't choose a firm
  • Work runs on spreadsheets and manual steps and we want it in a system
  • Our system is old and we can't tell whether to rebuild or patch it
  • We hired someone before, it never quite connected, and it stalled

What we do

Web application development

Internal systems, staff portals, customer-facing services. We build the foundations too: authentication, permissions and data flow between systems.

Mobile app development

iOS and Android. We default to Flutter so one codebase covers both, and drop to native where a project needs it.

Requirements and design

We come in before it's decided what to build. Deciding what is out of scope first is what keeps it from swelling later.

Reworking and replacing existing systems

We work on things that are already live without taking them down, and help you judge whether to rebuild or extend what you have.

Connecting to other services

Payments, accounting, Google Workspace, the systems you already run. The point is to stop people typing the same thing twice.

Operating and maintaining it after launch

We don't stop at delivery. Incident response, new features, and changes driven by how it's actually used.

How it goes

  1. 1

    Free consultation

You tell us what you want and where things stand. It's fine if none of it is organised. If it would be better not to build it, we say so.

  2. 2

    Requirements and quote

We settle what's in, what's out and in what order. The cost ceiling is set up front, so it doesn't swell as we go.

  3. 3

    Design and build

We put working software in front of you early. Misunderstandings surface mid-flight rather than after handover, which is where rework comes from.

  4. 4

    Launch and operation

Going live isn't the end; we adjust as it gets used. If you want to bring operation in-house, we handle the handover.

How we choose the technology

Chosen per project. If you already run something, or you have people in-house who write a particular language, we work with that. Where you have no preference, we pick what is easy to hire for and easy to hand over, so you're not left with something nobody can touch. You can also name something that isn't on this list.

Questions we get

Can we talk to you before the requirements are settled?
Yes, and that's when most clients come to us. Working out what to build is part of the job.
Who does the actual development?
Our own team. It is made up of our employees and contract engineers we work with on an ongoing basis. We don't hand projects off to firms you've never heard of. The person you talk to stays involved in the build, so what you tell us goes straight into the design.
Can we start with an MVP?
Yes. Rather than building everything at once, we can ship the smallest usable version and grow from there. Before that we can also put a click-through mock in front of you so you can check the feel and the shape before committing.
We want to run it ourselves afterwards.
We can build with that in mind. You get the source, the design documents and the operating procedures. We can also stay available for occasional help after you take it over.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the scale and the scope you hand over, so we don't publish a single figure. We agree the scope at the first consultation and quote from there. You are welcome to get competing quotes.
Where do you work?
We work online with clients across Japan. If you are in or near Tokyo we can come to you. We work in Japanese, English, Korean, and Spanish.

We can start from deciding what to build.

The first consultation is free. It's fine if the requirements aren't settled. We usually reply within 1 to 3 business days.
