Engineering capacity for your team
First we work out
what's actually missing.
Our engineers join your team and take on implementation as added capacity. Before that, we separate whether what you're short of is people or a role someone has to own. Adding people without settling that can simply add coordination overhead.
Where our clients usually are when they call
- 「Development is behind and we can't see when we'll ship」
- 「We're hiring, but we don't know if it will land in time」
- 「Nobody in-house knows this particular area」
- 「We're short-handed for a while, not permanently」
- 「We brought in contractors and don't know how to direct them」
What we do
Joining your team
We work inside your development team on implementation. We fit into how you already work; you don't have to change your process for us.
Coming in earlier than implementation
Not only building. We can join at requirements and design, before it's settled what gets built.
Advising on technology choices
Where nobody in-house knows an area, we help with the decision itself. We have nothing to sell, so "don't adopt it" is an answer we give.
Short and one-off engagements
If it's a temporary gap rather than a permanent one, that works too. Talk to us about a fixed-length engagement.
How it goes
- 1
Free consultation
You tell us how the team is set up and where it's stuck. If there is something to try before adding people, we'll say so.
- 2
Working out the role
We separate people from roles. Adding headcount without settling this can end up as coordination overhead rather than capacity.
- 3
Joining
We agree the terms and start. Beginning with a short period to see whether it fits is an option.
Areas we cover
We fit to whatever the project runs on. If you already have a stack and conventions, we work inside them rather than pulling you towards ours.
Questions we get
- Do your engineers need to work on site?
- We take on work that can be done remotely. Meetings are held online.
- Can we engage you for a short period?
- Talk to us. Fixed-length engagements and one-off technical help are both possible.
- Should we do this or contract development instead?
- It depends on what's being built and where responsibility sits. If you want to define a deliverable and hand it over, contract development fits. If your own team is driving and needs more hands, this does. We work it out with you.
- How much does it cost?
- It depends on the role and the length of the engagement, so we don't publish a single figure. We agree the scope at the first consultation and quote from there. You are welcome to get competing quotes.
- Where do you work?
- We work online with clients across Japan. If you are in or near Tokyo we can come to you. We work in Japanese, English, Korean, and Spanish.
Let's start by working out what's missing.
The first consultation is free. Talk to us even about whether adding people is the right move. We usually reply within 1 to 3 business days.
